Vietnam has officially extended its visa exemption policy for citizens of 12 countries, allowing visa-free entry for stays of up to 45 days until March 14, 2028. This initiative aims to boost tourism and strengthen international relations.
Vietnam Visa Waiver Program
The Vietnam Visa Waiver program enables citizens of select countries to visit Vietnam for tourism or short business trips without a visa. This policy simplifies travel, making it easier for international visitors to explore Vietnam’s rich culture and landscapes.
From March 15, 2025, to March 14, 2028, citizens from the following 12 countries can visit Vietnam visa-free for up to 45 days per trip:
- France
- Germany
- Italy
- Spain
- United Kingdom
- Russia
- Japan
- South Korea
- Denmark
- Sweden
- Norway
- Finland
Note: Belarus, which was previously included in this program, has been removed from the extension.
Why This Extension Benefits Travelers
- Easier Travel – Say goodbye to visa application hassles! This extension makes planning a trip to Vietnam more convenient.
- Longer Stays – With up to 45 days per visit, travelers can fully experience Vietnam, from the vibrant streets of Hanoi to the stunning landscapes of Ha Long Bay.
- Tourism Growth – This move highlights Vietnam’s commitment to welcoming international tourists with open arms.
New Temporary Visa Exemption for Three More Countries
In addition to the extended visa waiver, Vietnam has also introduced a temporary visa exemption for citizens of:
- Switzerland
- Czech Republic
- Poland
This exemption, effective March 1, 2025, allows travelers from these three countries to visit Vietnam visa-free for up to 45 days. However, this policy is only valid for tourism and will expire on December 31, 2025.
