Israel has updated its travel entry processes with the introduction of the eVisa-B2 and ETA-IL, making travel simpler and more secure for international visitors. These systems, which will be in place starting January 1, 2025, are aimed at increasing efficiency and security at Israel's borders. What is eVisa-B2? eVisa-B2 is a digital platform that allows eligible foreign travelers to apply for a B2 visa online. This visa supports purposes such as tourism, visiting family, short-term business, non-academic study or medical treatment. The streamlined process provides faster approval and greater convenience for applicants. Currently in its pilot phase, the eVisa-B2 is available only to Indian citizens, including for: Tourist trips Family visits Short-term business trips Non-academic studies Medical stay The Israeli authorities plan to expand the eVisa program to other nationalities in the future, to ensure a simpler travel process for more visitors. According to Eyal Siso, Director General of the Population and Immigration Authority (PIBA), the system represents "a true revolution", allowing travellers to manage their applications online and obtain their visas in a convenient manner. How to apply for an Israeli eVisa To apply for an eVisa, visit the official PIBA portal israel-entry.piba.gov.il and provide the following information: A valid email address Travel details Passport information Personal details Required documents: Valid passport Passport-style photo Return flight ticket Health insurance Proof of accommodation Proof of sufficient funds Invitation letter (if applicable) Key details about the eVisa-B2 Validity: Up to 90 days Maximum stay: 90 days Cost: 100 NIS (€27 or $28) Once the application is submitted and the online fee is paid, most approvals are processed within 10 business days. In rare cases, a visit to the nearest Israeli consulate may be necessary. Important note: Approval of an eVisa does not guarantee entry. Border control officers will make the final decision upon arrival.
