Air India is set to introduce its new colourful Airbus A320neo on its domestic short-haul routes from August 2024.
On
Sunday morning, Air India received its first narrowbody Airbus A320neo,
registered VT-RTN, which arrived at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi
International Airport. The aircraft arrived from the Airbus facility in
Toulouse, France, marking a significant step in Air India's ongoing
transformation.
An airline spokesperson highlighted the
three-class layout of the new aircraft: eight business class seats, 24
premium economy seats and 132 economy class seats. Notably, this is the
first time Air India is incorporating a premium economy cabin on its
narrow-body aircraft.
Currently, three A320neo aircraft with
older livery and the same three-class configuration are already
operating on domestic routes. As part of its five-year transformation
plan, Vihaan.ai, Air India aims to expand its international network by
connecting more global destinations with major Indian cities.
Early
next year, Air India will improve its passenger experience by
introducing new, upgraded and refurbished aircraft in its narrowbody and
widebody fleet. The rebranding effort began in August last year with
the introduction of several new aircraft, including the first A350-900
displayed in the new look.
