Scoot, a budget airline linked to Singapore Airlines, launched its first flight (TR 642) directly from Singapore to Koh Samui, Surat Thani Province, at 11:15 a.m. on May 13.

The airline, known for its affordable fares, has expanded its services to six Southeast Asian destinations using its new Embraer E190-E2 planes.

At the airport parking lot, Mr. Kampanat Klinsowakon, the local district chief of Koh Samui, Ms. Kanokittika Kritayutthikorn from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Koh Samui Office, and a tourism team greeted 108 tourists and crew members.

Among the attendees were Mr. Ng Chee Keong, Scoot's Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Kulpramote Wannalert from TAT Singapore and Philippines Office, and journalists from Singapore. They journeyed together to capture Koh Samui's scenic beauty and attractions, aiming to boost tourism.

Scoot plans to operate daily flights on the Singapore-Samui route initially, with a potential increase to two flights per day starting in June.

The airline's first E190-E2 jet, introduced in April, has been deployed on existing flights to Hat Yai and Krabi since May 7, increasing flight frequencies to both destinations from seven to ten times weekly.

With a range of 5,278 km and seating capacity for up to 112 passengers, the E190-E2 is Scoot's smallest aircraft.

Currently, Scoot offers bookings for 67 destinations, spanning 15 countries and territories in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Europe, with plans for further expansion.
