Cambodia Angkor Air announced the launch of direct flight services between Phnom Penh and New Delhi, starting June 16. These flights will operate four times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
Koy Kuong, Ambassador of the Royal Embassy of Cambodia to India, expressed optimism about a potential doubling of tourist flow between the two countries, attributing it to the convenience of direct flights and the rising demand for medical tourism in India.
Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Cambodia used to welcome around 75,000 visitors from India annually. However, this number has decreased to approximately 45,000 per year as of 2021. Ambassador Kuong highlighted the expectation for an increase in Cambodian nationals seeking medical treatment in India, citing lower treatment costs compared to neighboring countries.
Eng Molina, Chief Commercial Officer of Cambodia Angkor Airline, disclosed that the round trip fare from New Delhi to Phnom Penh is approximately ₹23,000 per person, inclusive of taxes.
From October 29, India will be directly connected to Cambodia.
