Air India is expanding its reach in Europe by launching direct flights from New Delhi to Zurich starting June 16. This move signifies a significant step forward, as Zurich becomes the seventh European city to be directly connected by Air India.
The flights will operate four times a week on a Boeing 787 aircraft with Economy and Business classes. Departures are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, as per the announcement made in a recent press release.
This new route addresses the growing demand for travel between India and Switzerland. With a substantial presence of Swiss companies in India and vice versa, along with a sizable Indian community of around 18,000 in Switzerland, these direct flights offer a convenient option for both business and leisure travelers.
Campbell Wilson, CEO and MD of Air India, emphasized the significance of these flights, stating, "These flights meet the strong demand for travel, whether for business or leisure."
Air India currently operates 60 weekly flights connecting six cities in mainland Europe – Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Milan, Paris, and Vienna. The addition of Zurich underscores the airline's commitment to improving connectivity between India and Europe.
